The Opportunity
EY Belgium Modern Data Platform team supports our clients in defining and rolling out the right data architecture, data platform, and infrastructure that support their needs, implement and maintain automated data pipelines, and infuse data through business intelligence and analytics. We are currently looking for capable and motivated professionals to join our team as Data Architect.
Key Responsibilities
1. Define, guide and advise clients in developing data strategies.
2. Engage with the clients to understand their business needs, pain points, and realities.
3. Gather, challenge, and prioritize clients' data requirements.
4. Define and design innovative Data & Analytics architectures and solutions that leverage the right trade-off between clients' realities, latest and disruptive technologies, current and future business needs, budget constraints, data availability, and resource requirements.
5. Oversee the design of the data architecture and the technical architecture for the old-fashioned and modern data platforms, including data acquisition and integration, data modelling, transformation and quality processes, master data management, data warehousing, and data marts, data lakehouse, data fabric, and data mesh.
6. Design conceptual, logical, and/or physical data models and repositories, as well as data ontologies.
7. Work closely with the clients and other architects to define metadata layers, technical Data strategies, and optimal integration of innovative technologies within the existing enterprise architecture landscape.
8. Evaluate and select the tools and components necessary for optimal data management (data acquisition, data storage, data quality, data governance, data visualization, and advanced analytics).
9. Take responsibility for client deliverables.
10. Support the clients in accessing accurate and understandable data.
11. Take an active role in coaching and developing junior consultants in the team.
12. Support in business development.
Skills and Attributes for Success
1. You are passionate about Data & Analytics and you want to continue to develop your expertise in this domain.
2. You have a proven track record and at least 5-10 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: data strategy, Data architecture, (modern) data platform architecture, data modeling, data governance, Business Intelligence, Big Data, reporting & data warehousing, AI, and Machine Learning.
3. You have a good understanding of the different data architecture patterns: Data Fabric, Data Mesh, Data Warehouse, Data Marts, data modeling, ontologies & knowledge graphs, MicroServices.
4. You have experience in implementing ETL data flows and data pipelines, and know one or more of the following tools: Informatica PowerCenter, SAS Data Integration Studio, Microsoft SSIS, Ab Initio, etc.
5. Ideally, you have experience in the Hadoop ecosystem (Spark, Kafka, HDFS, Hive, HBase, etc.), Docker, and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Openshift, AKS, GKE...), and NoSQL Databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Neo4j).
6. Any experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud is a real asset.
7. You have experience in working closely with business leaders to identify business needs and data opportunities.
8. You have concrete data modeling experience and are able to define a conceptual data model and translate it into a logical and physical one.
9. You have a keen interest to learn more about the Financial Services market in Belgium and beyond.
10. You make yourself regularly aware of the latest Data & Analytics trends and solutions.
11. You have a strong entrepreneurial and team spirit, balanced by a healthy sense of autonomy.
12. You are eager to learn and grow professionally.
13. You have a Master’s Degree in Economics, (Business) Engineering, Sciences, IT, Computer Sciences, Statistics, or equivalent.
14. You have strong communication and presentation skills and love to take full ownership of your projects and help clients in overcoming their challenges.
15. You are fluent in Dutch and/or French, proficient in business English.
