Scientist Location: Beerse Onsite role (100%) Duration: 12 monthsHours: 40h About the department: About Innovative Medicine Our expertise in Innovative Medicine is informed and inspired by patients, whose insights fuel our science based advancements. Visionaries like you work on teams that save lives by developing the medicines of tomorrow. Join us in developing treatments, finding cures, and pioneering the path from lab to life while chioning patients every step of the way. The Role: The scientist will join the Advanced Materials Characterization and Investigations (AMCI) group within Analytical Development. AMCI is an international and diverse team of scientists performing advanced analytical characterization of pharmaceutical products and leading global analytical investigations for the commercial product portfolio and for the Discovery, Product Development & Supply (DPDS) organization of J&J Innovative Medicine. Join our team as a Scientist specializing in Particle & Powder Technology. In this lab based role, you will have the exciting opportunity to characterize particulate systems, focusing on key particle properties such as size, morphology, surface area, etc.. By gaining insights into these properties, you will explore how they influence bulk behavior, including powder flow, density, permeability, shear properties, and more. This comprehensive approach will encompass active ingredients, excipients, drug product intermediates, and solid dosage forms, enabling a holistic understanding of drug products. Your Profile The scientist will conduct experiments in the lab to characterize (in depth) particle and powder properties of active ingredients, excipients, drug product intermediates (e.g. preblends, granulates and final blends) of solid dosage forms. This includes particle size/shape determination and flowablity assessments. You will design, set up and perform experiments in the lab and will ensure integration of the results and meet project deliverables. Collaborate closely on the interface between Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and Drug Products (DP) teams to enhance product development. The scientist will continuously evaluate analytical characterization strategies to provide the best support possible to the project teams in CMC development. Support internal innovation projects with respect to characterization approaches and workflows. This includes the assessment of novel characterisation techniques and modelling. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, GMP and safety. Stay up to date with the scientific literature in the pharmaceutical analysis field. Qualifications / Requirements: Education & Experience PhD in Chemical (Bio)Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, or equivalent by experience in a relevant area. Expertise in particle sizing technologies such as Laser diffraction and Microscopy (Image analysis). Profound understanding of relation of particle properties to bulk behavior and process
