We are looking for a Research Executive to join our Evidence team in Brussels, where we help European institutions to make the right decisions and improve people’s lives. In this role, you will support the day-to-day running of projects and project management and conducting qualitative and quantitative research, including supporting materials creation, fieldwork, analysis, and outputs. We expect our researchers to be motivated, have a positive attitude, and work well in a team.
Your Mission
You will work as a consultant on various data-related tasks for long-term projects as well as shorter-term projects. This will involve writing data processing/analysis pipelines, performing statistical analyses and producing compelling data visualisations and dashboards. Key responsibilities include:
* Integrating data from a variety of different sources into formats and products relevant to our clients
* Performing statistical analyses to answer research questions relevant to our clients and our business
* Creating attractive data visualisations and dashboards that clearly communicate our most important results
* Supporting the sampling and research methodology in our projects in close collaboration with our colleagues in the United Kingdom
* Support the implementation of research projects that require high quality data collection
* Contribute to bid writing
* Supporting client and project management
Your Profile
First and foremost, we are looking for someone who is passionate about social issues relevant to the European Union. Motivation is important as is the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. In addition, we want someone with the following profile:
* Proficiency in a programming language (preferably R or Python) and, specifically, their use in statistical programming
* An analytical mindset and the ability to independently solve complex problems
* Experience with collecting, structuring and analysing large datasets coming from diverse sources
* Proficiency in English. Knowledge of other EU languages is a strong advantage (especially French)
* Reporting skills such as data interpretation, clear writing and data visualization are a skill for this role
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially written.
* Knowledge and experience with advanced statistical analysis and/or machine learning algorithms is a plus
* Experience using Git for managing code in a collaborative environment is a plus
* Experience creating compelling data visualisations using, for example, ggplot2, plotly, RShiny, powerBI etc. is a plus
* Knowledge of SQL is a plus
* Open-mindedness and cultural sensitivity in a multicultural environment
