My Client, a major chemical company is looking for an Interim Process Engineer to help them bring the performance of the plant to the next level by proposing and implementing projects and changes based on and in-depth expertise in the field of process technology and Continuous improvement.
Key areas of accountability/responsibility:
• Drive a continuous improvement mindset in the organisation
• Accountable for long term performance improvement of the plant in the area’s of safety, costs and yield
• Propose and execute Lean six sigma improvement projects in a DMAIC format
• Execute feasibility and conceptual engineering studies for proposed hardware changes
• Executing feasibility studies for plant problems, opportunities, technological innovations.
• Owner of the Key performance indicators of the plant and maintaining dashboards and quality of data.
To realize above elements the process & improve engineer will:
• Setup DMAIC project structure for the obvious problem area’s of the plant
* Delivering a clear problem description aligned with owner and stakeholders
* Statistical analysis and proof of root causes o Propose changes o Implement and track results • Set up and maintain a plant perfomance dashboard
* Define Key operating parameters
* Define standard values and relevant control limits
* Define corrective measures if outside these limits o Adjust dashboard and controls based on growing insights
* Communicate and ask feedback on plant performance
• Support cost reduction programs
* Support process improvements to reduce losses and increase efficiency (eg. Reduce Raw Material losses, increase equipment running hours,…)
* Evaluate ways of reducing utility cost (pressured air, steam,…)
• Set up overall Loss model for the plant.
* Define high level loss categories
* Define subsequent root causes to an acceptable level
* Quantify probabilities of occurrence
* Define mitigating measures
Knowledge and educational level
• A Master in chemical engineering
• Strong knowledge of process technology
• Familiar with continuous improvement and 6sigma, preferably black belt certification
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of RCA/FMEA methodology
• Data Management: Experience with statistical techniques and evaluation tools

Required experience:
• 10 years of manufacturing experience in a plant environment / process engineering
• 3-5 years of experience as improvement engineer

• Proven experience in RCA and FMEA process
• Experience with statistical techniques and evaluation tools.
• Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
