The Nucleic Acid Vaccines Center of Excellence (NAV CoE), a global team within the GSK’s Drugs Substance Vaccine’s Technical Research and Development organization, has as a mission to develop the next generation mRNA Drug Substance vaccine platforms for rapid development of new vaccine candidates. It has branches in Rockville, US and in Rixensart, Belgium.
We are looking for a mRNA Project Delivery Leader to join the mRNA Drug Substance (DS) team and lead the delivery of new mRNA vaccine candidates from development to the clinical manufacturing stages reporting to the NAV CoE Leader. The position will play a significant role in shaping current and next generation GSK’s mRNA vaccine platforms to accelerate addressing unmet medical needs, a compelling field having a direct impact into patients and global health. This exciting opportunity allows you to lead key activities, collaborate with top talents in the vaccines industry, and advance your career while ensuring timely project delivery in collaboration with process development colleagues and GMP team.
Main core responsibilities
1. Drive excellence in project execution:
2. Lead and execute mRNA project deliverables from development to clinical up to commercial handover through transversal coordination of global teams (US and Belgium).
3. Represent DS in cross-functional project teams, playing a pivotal role in translating project objectives into actionable plans to ensure timely delivery according to phase-appropriate quality and GMP standards.
4. As an mRNA expert, integrate into the global NAV CoE and contribute to platform development progress, driving innovation and continuous improvement, translating into a strategy for deployment into project delivery.
5. Transversal leadership: think and act strategically, impact and influence within DS, across functions and at senior leadership level to continuously improve and shape a strategy & framework for a robust global fast mRNA production strategy.
6. Embrace an open global mindset, fostering a positive culture of transparency and collaboration within the organization.
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
7. PhD with degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field with additional 4 years of independent research in a competitive environment in RNA or closely related field demonstrated by a strong publication record.
8. A minimum of 4 years of industry experience in bioprocess development and technology transfer for large biomolecules, preferably mRNA. Broad understanding of development activities required for CMC support.
9. Effective leadership, people management and communication abilities.
10. Exceptional proficiency in project management.
Preferred Qualifications:

12. Knowledge of the large molecule regulatory environment, particularly FDA/ICH/ISPE guidelines on risk management, technology transfer and process validation
