Job Description:
The Corporate Responsibility (CR) department oversees the development and implementation of the firm’s CR agenda and initiatives by crafting goals, policies, and initiatives that align with the firm’s business strategies and operational objectives and support communities where we do business. CR includes Global Government Relations, Global Philanthropy, Sustainable Finance, Regulatory Affairs, and the JPMorgan Policy Center and Institute.
As a Vice President in Global Government Relations (GGR) you will be based in Brussels and report to the Head of the Brussels GR Office, working closely with the rest of the team and the Head of EMEA GR based in London. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive policy, regulatory, and advocacy strategy on behalf of JPMorgan Chase.
The EMEA Government Relations team identifies key legislative files and regulatory topics in the EU and UK for our businesses and executes advocacy strategies, representing the firm as well as its specific views on ongoing regulatory reform before regulators and policymakers. The team also keeps management apprised of developments in the political and legislative environment and advises on strategy for dealing with broader external issues, working closely with the wider Global Government Relations, Regulatory Affairs, Global Engagement teams, and other colleagues across London, Washington DC, New York, and Hong Kong.
Job responsibilities
1. Monitor European political, policy, and regulatory developments that impact the business;
2. Provide senior leadership and lines of business with timely and concise information about emerging political, policy, and regulatory issues and help develop the Firm's position;
3. Develop and implement advocacy strategies on policy, legislative, and regulatory proposals in line with the firm’s interests;
4. Develop and maintain a strong network of stakeholders for gathering intelligence and assisting in the development of advocacy strategy;
5. Represent the firm at meetings with government officials and with other external stakeholders;
6. Contribute to the work of trade associations and liaise with counterparts at other firms to determine agreed positions on issues and leverage collective resources for advocacy;
7. Prepare presentations and internal briefings for senior management, lines of business areas, and management committees.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
1. Demonstrated excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to communicate complex policy issues in a concise manner;
2. Ability to work with all levels of an organization;
3. Integrity and a commitment to operate with the highest regard for ethical standards;
4. Strong familiarity with EU, UK, and EU Member States political processes as well as other international institutions and regulatory bodies;
5. Comfortable working under pressure with competing projects in a dynamic and challenging environment;
6. Self-starter, with an ability to work independently as well as in a team;
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
1. Asset Management and sustainability knowledge and experience are desired;
2. Additional language skills in languages of EU member states are also preferable.
