Senior Director Finance & Support Services
(Based in Brussels)
We are seeking a Senior Director of Finance and Support Services to lead the financial, legal, IT, and logistics functions of our international association. Based at our headquarters in Brussels, this senior leadership role is pivotal in ensuring the financial health, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability of our organization, spanning both our Brussels headquarters and multiple international offices. This role is essential for the development and execution of robust business continuity plans, focusing on accounting, IT, and facility management to mitigate any potential disruptions.
Responsibilities
1. Financial Leadership
Strategic Financial Management: Develop, adjust, and implement the association’s financial strategy in partnership with the Secretary General, Executive Board, and Management Board.
Financial Control and Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, prepare monthly, half-yearly, and annual statements, and develop financial dashboards. Oversee internal audits and compliance with policies and regulations.
Analytical Accounting: Enforce analytical accounting practices to provide valuable financial insights across departments and international offices.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead financial planning, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and support executive decision-making.
Finance Team Leadership: Mentor and supervise the Head of Accounting, fostering a high-performance finance team and cross-functional collaboration.
Risk Management: Conduct financial risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
2. Legal Affairs Oversight
Oversee the legal function through supervision of the Head of Legal Affairs, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with organizational objectives. Provide strategic oversight on contracts, agreements, and risk management to protect the association’s interests.
3. Facility Management Oversight
Manage facility operations, ensuring a safe and productive environment through effective building maintenance, safety compliance, vendor management, and efficiency improvements.
4. IT Strategy and Operations Oversight
Oversee the IT strategy with operational goals, supervise the Head of IT, and ensure best practices in cybersecurity and digital transformation. Maintain secure, efficient, and up-to-date IT infrastructure across all offices.
5. General Management
Strategic Contribution: Contribute to the association’s overall strategy as a Management Board member, providing financial and operational insights for long-term planning.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as a bridge within finance, legal, IT, and logistics, promoting alignment with the association’s goals and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Employee Well-being and High Performance: Champion the association’s core values, promoting a respectful and inclusive environment. Set clear goals, support team development, and balance high-performance expectations with a focus on well-being.
Ideal Candidate will have:
* Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
* Minimum of 10 years in a senior financial role with expertise in finance, legal, IT, and facility management. Prior experience in an international organization with 100-150 staff is highly desirable.
* Expertise in financial planning, analysis, and risk management.
* Knowledge of Belgian financial regulations.
* Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in English and French.
* Proven leadership experience, managing a team of 11 (including four direct reports).
