MOBILITY DATA EXPERT & PROJECT MANAGER
As part of the UITP K&I Department, the Mobility Data Expert will be part of the Mobility Enablers Unit and contribute to activities in the field of public transport and urban mobility, focusing on mobility data, data exchange, data standardisation (Siri, NeTEx, Transmodel), and related thematic areas, including regulatory framework.
The Data Expert will work mostly autonomously, and in cooperation with the Manager in the field, supporting and contributing to UITP knowledge and research activities on mobility data projects. The Expert reports directly to the MEU Head of Unit.
This position tasks include:
1. Management of and contribution to ongoing mobility data projects in which UITP is involved (e.g. NAPCORE, TEADAL). This includes day-by-day project management, the interaction with PC coordinator(s) and the project partners, elaboration of technical and financial reporting, as well as bringing in knowledge and expertise to the projects, incl. international cooperation, trainings and dissemination activities;
2. In the frame of the projects, conceive, organise and manage workshops and meetings with sectoral stakeholders, with the subsequent collection and consolidation of outputs, agreements, and takeaways, to be reflected in the project reports and deliverables, as well as derived UITP publications as Project Briefs;
3. Implement timely and correctly all administrative tasks as requested by UITP governance processes (budget, timesheets, purchase orders, project cases, capacity plan) and financial management (financial statements, invoices, etc.);
4. Ensure and produce high-quality publications, aligned with UITP’s strategy, the priorities of the UITP Integrated Global Work Programme, and the needs of the sector;
5. Represent UITP in global sector events, conferences and stakeholders platforms and fora, to present projects’ and/or UITP work;
6. Facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge on Mobility Data between Projects, UITP bodies and members worldwide;
7. Contribute actively to the consolidation of UITP’s leadership in the field of Mobility Data and related areas;
8. Coordinate and prepare third-party funded project proposals (e.g. Horizon Europe); from proposal preparation to execution, including budget and resources forecast and management, content production, communication and dissemination activities in collaboration with the Communication department;
9. Contribute to the UITP Global Summit program and preparations by developing and managing the sessions related to Automated Mobility, incl. speakers management (identification and confirmation of speakers, on-site management and follow-up).
10. Cooperate with other K&I Managers and Experts towards UITP’s goals;
11. Cooperate with the MEU Head of Unit, Director and Deputy Director of the K&I Department;
12. Adhere to the UITP values (Respect, Innovation, Sharing, Expertise); internal code of conduct, and on the principles of caring management;
13. Implement the UITP RISE values in day-to-day activities: exchange and share information with UITP colleagues; collaborate in activity definition and implementation; delegate tasks with trust on the expertise of others.
Additional information
This position is foreseen to cover ongoing and upcoming EC-funded projects on Mobility Data, with main tasks and deliverables as follows:
1. EU IDS for multimodal access nodes (timeline March – December 2025)
Study for an EU Identification System for Multimodal Mobility Access Nodes.
Deliverables
* Mapping of the access nodes identifiers in the Member States.
* Final analysis of the EU IDs for Multimodal Access Nodes.
2. Multimodal data availability on the NAPs (timeline July 2025 to December 2027)
To develop a strategy to increase the number of MMTIS data providers on the NAPs.
Deliverables
* Mapping of the EU-based requirements, governance and rules to implement MMTIS Delegated Regulation.
* Roadmap and recommendations to increase MMTIS data provision on the NAPs demonstrated by best practices.
3. Domain and community management (timeline July 2025 to Dec 2027)
To coordinate domain specific activities, manage the relationships with and between different community stakeholders and foster strategical and tactical collaboration among stakeholders involved in multimodal mobility.
Understand UITP members‘ need on data sharing and involve them to contribute in the discussions of the community.
Contribute to develop an ecosystem with relevant multimodal mobility stakeholders and discuss ongoing work, and requirements. This ecosystem will also offer the opportunity to support the work on common strategies and discuss responses on the challenges raised by external stakeholders.
Follow up the regular communication, thematic workshops and quarterly update meetings on ongoing work in the multimodal topics.
Support to organise international events, concretely the Users’ days / NAP users Multimodal Forum for actual and potential users of NAP data in multimodal mobility applications.
Profile
• Solid knowledge in the field of Mobility Data, concretely data sharing (to NAPs), data reuse (from the NAPs), and standardisation (Siri, NeTEx, Transmodel).
• Deep understanding of regulatory framework, e.g. ITS Directive and MMTIS Delegated Regulation.
• Experience in project management, especially with EC-funded projects
• Good organisational skills, structured way of working, autonomy
• Strong oral and written English communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to an audience
• Ability to engage and coordinate international groups of stakeholders and experts, via meetings, workshops and other activities, with the goal to capture, develop and disseminate useful knowledge for the sector
• Leadership, consensus-building and diplomatic skills to conciliate the different interests of the actors to move positions forward in line with the association’s and sector’s strategies
• Team player, pro-active and problem-solving attitude
• Readiness to travel including long distance and ability to work under pressure
• IT literate
• Integrity and professionalism
