JOB SUMMARY:
The Scientist Research & Development has a depth of expertise within his/her area and supports both New Sterilization Technologies as well as improvements in how Existing Technologies are used across the Sterigenics’ global network. These improvements can be based on an increased understanding of the science behind the technologies, or to use the existing technologies linked to high-end/new/pharmaceutical applications or within a cross-business approach with our sister companies Nelson Labs and Nordion within Sotera Health.
The environment the senior scientist operates in, will be one of close collaboration both with different departments including EH&S, quality, operations, laboratories, and engineering within Sterigenics as well as external where collaboration with customers/universities/research institutes will form a key part of the success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supporting the development of New Sterilization Technologies Develop understanding of new technologies. Development of protocols/reports/assessments. Creation and testing of new sterilization process designs inclusive of hands-on work on process experiments. Development of training material Provide consulting to customers across all aspects of sterile processing and testing of their products’ entire life cycle. Project management of pivotal projects
2. Execution of strategic high-end/new/pharmaceutical applications and cross business projects In conjunction with staff from other business units within Sotera Health, development of new technology processes which allow for a holistic sterilization and testing solution for customers. Project management with milestones and deliverables
3. Execution of Existing Technology Process Improvement Increase understanding of science linked to processes. Hands-on work on process experiments Project management with milestones and deliverables
4. Technical writer for data consolidation and scientific documents for publication
5. Develop network and collaborations with customers, universities, etc.
6. Influence industry through participation in standards groups and scientific committees
7. Acts as a mentor to developing scientific track and validation personnel.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
8. Bachelor/Master in science or engineering
9. 5 years of experience in a similar position
