We operate at impressive scale, with over 26,000 employees and 35 manufacturing sites, supporting 115 markets and producing over 2.3 billion packs of medicines and doses of vaccines, with an ambition to positively impact the health of more than 2.5 billion people by 2031.The GSC Strategy Senior Director position has the global accountability for developing and driving the execution of the manufacturing and supply strategy for a brand or a portfolio of vaccines. He/she acts as the single point of contact (SPOC) between Global Supply Chain (GSC), the Vaccines Development Teams and Vaccines Commercial Teams (VDT/VCT) which are the GSK teams accountable for the successful launch and continued marketing of GSK vaccines.He/she is the key architect of the manufacturing and supply network for each product. He/she leads Strategy Leads who are responsible for overseeing and coordinating the end-to-end manufacturing and supply activities for the brand / portfolio of vaccines.Key responsibilities:Develop and drive the execution of the manufacturing and supply strategy for a brand or portfolio of vaccines in line with the business ambition and GSC’s network design strategyDefine a manufacturing & supply strategy that supports the long-term brand ambition, is cost effective and maximizes the utilization of the existing GSK assetsMaintain a 10-yr capacity plan that reflects the long-range demand forecast for each vaccine in the portfolioAssess future capacity requirements to support business growth, make recommendation on the strategy to achieve them (including investment/divestment and potential partnership responses)Develop key manufacturing intelligence on competitorsPartner with Business Development on new opportunitiesWhere applicable, prepare business cases for major capital investmentsSeek endorsement of the proposed strategy from the relevant GSK governance forums including the SCRB (Supply Chain Review Board)Translate the approved strategy in manageable projects and operational roadmaps and drive execution against objectives and deadlinesActs as the product leader in GSC and as a liaison between GSC, the Vaccines Development Teams and Vaccine Commercialization teams (VDT/VCT) - the accountable teams for the successful launch and continued marketing of GSK vaccinesAct as the single point of contact in GSC for all other departments (Commercial, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Finance, Medical, Business Development, Legal, etc) for product specific mattersAccountable for the leadership of each vaccine’s cross-functional global matrix teams (GSC Product Strategy Leadership Teams - PSLT)Each PSLT is composed of senior representatives of all functions involved in the manufacturing, supply and life cycle management of the vaccines in the given portfolio: Site VPs/Directors, Global Supply Chain Director, Technical Life Cycle Management Director, Global Regulatory Affair Director, Global Product Quality Lead, Global Commercial Lead and Vaccine Finance LeadFor all the vaccines in the given portfolio, each PSLT is responsible for:Managing the overall manufacturing and supply complexity, identifying the challenges and the responses as well as the opportunities and implementation routesImproving the overall performance through the reduction of production lead times and costsRationalizing of the GSC product life cycle management through the minimization of the number of change requests and the prioritization of essential over non-essential projectsOverseeing and advising governing bodies and GSC/Quality forums on product specific mattersManaging the major crisis situations & risks with, where applicable, the creation of a dedicated issue management teamBasic Qualifications:University degree (Master) Scientific, Economic, Finance, Engineering10 to 15 years in manufacturing, supply and control of human vaccinesStrong business acumenGood understanding of the vaccine development, production (incl. testing and release) and supply constraints and environment (including competition)Ability to engage, influence and lead people from different areas of expertise including most senior colleaguesAbility to help people see the big picture with complementary perspectives across different disciplinesStrong analytical skillsInformation search capabilitiesCapability to act as a “single voice”Excellent written and spoken English, other languages are an assetPreferred Qualifications:If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:MBA Business AdministrationAbility to work effectively in a matrix organization across geographies and cultures, multi-cultural awarenessAbility to drive changeAbility to provide strategic advice as well as operational solutionsExcellent organizational skills to oversee the coordination of projects
