In order to meet its ambitious production and product development roadmap, Thales is increasing its team and looking for a Head of System Engineering.As Head of System Engineering, you will manage a multidisciplinary team of development within the Engineering department. You will be involved in the design, development, and qualification activities of new products or concepts and in the technical support to Operations and Projects for the in-service product line. You will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art Model-Based-Design methods and tools in a high-tech environment. You will be expected to support multiple projects and as such will require planning and organizing skills. The Head of System Engineering is seen as a key capability for our company and is responsible for driving the Systems Engineering team to meet our challenges.PROFILE:- You graduated with a Master of Engineering or any other relevant field and have significant experience in team management.- You have experience and expertise in aeronautics, space, electronics, applied mathematics, or physics domains.- You understand and want to oversee rocket systems and be immersed in a challenging and innovative environment with diverse technical projects.- You are a leader willing to engage and develop your team (up to 20 persons) through collaborative work and challenging approaches.- You love to share knowledge and help people develop themselves, enabling you to be recognized as a great mentor and team player.- You are responsible and show a great sense of initiative.- You have a very good command of French and English.COMPETENCES:- You can empower and unite employees around clear objectives by acting as a coach and servant leader.- You have substantial knowledge of Systems Engineering, including embedded hardware, embedded software, algorithms, simulations, and modeling (Matlab/Simulink) for integrating rocket systems on platforms.- You can adopt a holistic approach to analyze a system, focusing on how the system’s constituent parts interrelate and how systems work over time.- You can understand system capabilities through functional, logical, and value analytics.- You understand the importance of requirements definition through performance analysis, trade studies, constraint evaluation, and cost/benefit analysis.- You have good notions of IVVQ (Integration/Verification/Validation/Qualification) and R-A-M-T (Reliability/Maintainability/Availability/Testability) and associated norms and standards.- You demonstrate a strong desire for continuous improvement and a capacity to develop a strategic vision.- You know how to adopt a Lean Management approach and apply Agile principles to team management and development.LIFE AS A HEAD OF SYSTEM ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT ROLE:As a Head of System Engineering within Thales, you will:- Take charge of the Discipline Practices and Tools tailoring and deployment across Projects and Products.- Develop/improve your skills to integrate rocket systems on various platforms.- Ensure the capitalization and sharing of knowledge and assets.- Foster continuous improvement based on root cause analysis and problem solving.- Manage people within your discipline and ensure their development.- Perform technical reviews associated with your discipline on Bids/Products and Projects.- Ensure Operational Subject Matter Experts allocate part of their time to coach engineering people.At Thales, we provide CAREERS and not just jobs.
