A full-time electro-mechanical engineer specialized in renewable energies is needed to support the growing portfolio of Research & Innovation projects and operational activities of the Wind & Marine Lab, covering the following activities:
• Structural health monitoring of operating assets, combining real-time measurements and advanced analytics
• Aeroelastic modelling to evaluate the impact of dynamic wind loads on wind turbine components
• Performance monitoring of operating wind parks and detection of component health anomalies
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development and application of methodologies and tools to evaluate the impact of site specific loads and control strategies on wind turbine lifetime. This will rely a.o. on versatile analyses of operational data from SCADA or from specific measurements and modelling, in collaboration with a team of experienced engineers in wind energy. He/she will be responsible for the interpretation of the results and report findings to colleagues and external research sponsors and clients. This position includes on-site missions, contributing to the delivery of operational services such as the installation of measurement devices and the inspection of wind turbine components.
Profile / Requirements :
Highly motivated and enthusiastic person with a passion for applied Research & Innovation, able to work well independently as well as part of a team. Strongly interested in renewable energy, and wind energy specifically.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in engineering with a strong background in renewable energies
- Knowledge/experience in structural health assessment and data analytics related to renewable energy assets
- Entry level position, open to candidates with up to 3 years of experience
- Strong programming skills in Python and data analytics
- A good command of the English language, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a plus, but not strictly required.
