What your future may hold
As a legal counsel you will act as a true business partner, and you will have the opportunity to interact with people at all levels of the organization as well as with other members of the legal team and external contacts.
You will assist the business in reaching its objectives and in such process ensure compliance with applicable laws and (internal) regulations to minimize legal risks and maximize legal protection.
You will assist in the handling of commercial and operational legal matters, including:
* Drafting and negotiating contracts in close cooperation with the business.
* Providing solution oriented legal advice on all day-to-day matters in scope to enable proper monitoring, management and mitigation of the legal risks.
* Identifying, defining and developing standards in documentation and work flows to enable efficiency in the way of working of/with the legal function.
* Assisting in the settlement of disputes and where needed initiating and following up on litigation files.
* Providing relevant legal training to the business.
* Developing legal expertise in specific domains relevant to the business.
You will be part of a legal team of 5 and you’ll report to the General Counsel.
Minimum Requirements
* You obtained a Master degree in Law in Belgium.
* You have at least 3 years of experience as an in-house lawyer in an international environment or as lawyer in one of the leading law firms in Belgium.
* You have an excellent knowledge of Dutch and English (spoken and written). Good knowledge of French is considered a plus.
* You have excellent contract reviewing and drafting skills.
* You have strong communication skills. You are able to translate complex legal matters into comprehensible language within a business community.
* You are pro-active, solution oriented, and possess a strong business mindset.
* You demonstrate integrity and maturity in your approach.
