At the Sony Technology Information Center (TIC) Brussels Laboratory we are looking for a Senior Technology Research Project Manager.
You have a software development background, preferably with some exposure to Blockchain or Web3 domain, and will use your expertise to identify and evaluate emerging technological trends, uncover opportunities to develop novel technologies that benefit Sony’s businesses, assume a leadership role during the technology development process, and manage a team of brilliant engineers and researchers.

You will:
1. Lead a multidisciplinary team of researchers and developers in a management role – including research management and software development management.
2. Identify strategic business, investment, and development opportunities in the technology domains relevant to Sony’s diverse business portfolio (including – but not limited to - Web3, Artificial Intelligence, and Security).
3. Collaborate with Sony’s business unit representatives to develop market-ready solutions
4. Network with startups, corporations, venture capital communities, universities, and standardization organizations.
5. Compile trend and technology reports in selected fields, and report trends to upper management
6. Analyse and create intellectual property.
You will bring:
7. Solid experience in managing SW or research projects, teams, and partner relationships in a corporate environment.
8. Significant experience in performing technology scouting, trend research and/or driving innovation in the field of either security, blockchain or AI technologies.
9. Excellent networking skills, both internal and external.
10. Advanced creative, deductive and entrepreneurial thinking.
11. Strong eagerness to translate insights into opportunities.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
13. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
14. Sophisticated ability to structure, illustrate and or communicate complex concepts in an understandable, practicable manner.

Your new office
R&D Center Europe Brussels Laboratory is located Zaventem near Brussels. It takes 45 minutes to reach by train from Brussels Midi (Eurostar / Thalys terminal) and 5 minutes by shuttle bus from Brussels Airport. The development group is international, and the working language is English.
Our office in Zaventem is designed to connect people with our newly installed bar, gym and breakout room to play darts or PS5. The office is next to the airport/train station (connected with a free shuttle), the bicycle highway to Brussels/Leuven (a true added value for employees that make use of the bicycle leasing program) and of course a parking space with electric chargers. Lunch can be enjoyed in the private restaurant on the ground floor or at the cafeteria area with a Nespresso.
