As the IT Network Engineer, you will be responsible for establishing stability and simplifying connectivity to improve the user experience of IT delivered services.
The position will have global responsibility, supporting North America, Europe, and additional regions across all Carmeuse locations.
Your Responsibilities:
As the Network Engineer based in our HQ in Louvain-La-Neuve, you will be responsible for:
1. Troubleshoot network (LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP and firewall-related issues while providing excellent customer service according to priorities based on business impact and urgency
2. You manage the lifecycle of the existing infrastructure to keep it modern and up to date
3. You automate tasks and come up with improvements to increase efficiency
4. You collaborate with project managers and technology teams to deliver efficient and quality projects
5. You work closely with vendors, partners, and other relevant stakeholders
6. You create technical documentation and review it regularly
7. You provide guidance to other engineers and share knowledge via technical sharing sessions with the Service Desk
8. You conduct latency optimization testing identifying breakages and recommends solutions
9. You support a secured wireless environment
10. You also support of datacenter migrations, upgrades, and redesign
11. You finally support of global HQ, regional, and plants with Cisco and Meraki devices.
Requirements:
Basic requirements:
12. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent work experience
13. Basic understanding of Business Operations (OT) concepts
14. Advanced understanding of ITSM Framework (ITIL). ITIL Foundations certified required
15. Must have relevant licenses or certifications- CCNA
16. At least 5 years’ technical expertise in switching, routing, security (firewalls), wireless systems
17. Expert knowledge of troubleshooting layer 1, layer 2 and layer 3 issues
18. QoS design, deployment strategies and architectures experience
19. Monitoring tools like CA eHealth, Solarwinds Orion, PRTG, or Ciscoworks
20. Understanding of various network storage (SAN/NAS) & backup technologies.
