BI DEVELOPER & DATA ARCHITECT
JOB OUTLINE:
Based: Geel (Belgium). At least 3 days a week on site. Applicants must be able to commute to the office and be based close enough to respond quickly in case of an emergency during a planned home working day.

THE POSITION:
ROLE PURPOSE:
* The Business Intelligence Developer / Data Architect will design, develop, and maintain scalable data systems to support business intelligence and analytics needs.
* This role requires expertise in database management, data modelling, ETL processes, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable datasets.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Data Architecture & Integration:
* Design scalable data models, schemas, and system architectures; implement automated processes and integration solutions for data warehousing.
* Develop and document ETL requirements while automating workflows across diverse data sources.
Tools & Programming:
* Leverage SQL, Python, and other tools for data processing, analysis, and automation.
* Build scalable, maintainable solutions and develop scripts to support data integration.
Governance & Compliance:
* Establish and enforce data standards, ensuring quality, integrity, and compliance with regulations.
* Implement data governance policies and procedures.
Technical Leadership:
* Guide best practices in data architecture, collaborate with stakeholders to align strategies, and mentor team members.
Performance Optimization:
* Monitor and optimize database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance tuning measures.
Business Analysis & Collaboration:
* Understand business needs, prepare datasets, support reporting, and identify root causes of business problems. Maintain awareness of business drivers and metrics.
Documentation & Reporting:
* Maintain technical documentation, provide performance reports, and stay updated on trends in data architecture.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Technical Expertise:
* Proficient in DBMS (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL) with experience in data modelling, warehousing, ETL, and big data technologies.
* Strong SQL programming (queries, views, stored procedures) and familiarity with Python and other data tools.
* Knowledge of BI tools (e.g., MicroStrategy semantic graph) is a plus.
Analytical Thinking:
* Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
* Ability to analyse complex data needs and create effective solutions.
* Detail-oriented with robust analytical abilities.
Communication Skills:
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Skilled at presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Project Management:
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
* Strong organizational skills and familiarity with project management tools.
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
* 3+ years in data architecture, database design, or a similar role.
* Experience with cloud-based data solutions (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure) preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Advanced certifications (e.g., TOGAF, CDMP).
* Familiarity with data architecture trends and technologies.
* Experience in the music industry, retail, or sales operations.
Work Environment:
* Primarily office-based with occasional travel.
