Internship Position
We are looking for a Full Stack Software Developer Intern who will participate in the study, design, and prototyping of backend and front-end software tools for monitoring and controlling experimental robotics systems across terrestrial, marine, and space exploration domains.
The role involves contributing to the development of state-of-the-art technologies in full-stack web applications, cloud deployed software, modern User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design and distributed communication methods, together with the rest of the Team using an Agile approach.
The successful candidate will work in the Systems Department, Robotics Software and Intelligence (RSI) Division and will mainly to the RSI Division Lead.
* Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
* Duration: 3-6 months
* Start date: As of quarter 2, 2025.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Develop and review functionalities for the robot control centre, using web-based User Interface using VUE and webpack
* Conduct analysis of application requirements and integrate feedback from the development team
* Ensure secure user authentication and data sharing processes for a web applications
* Contribute to the development of advanced tools for autonomous vehicle handling, mission planning, and plan monitoring
Develop:
* Front-End UI design and review using Figma
* Back-End services for data management using Python, NodeJS, SQL and data exchange methods (e.g. HTTP, WebSockets, ROS-DDS).
Skills and Experience
* Currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree, in Computer Science, or any related fields
* Strong interest in the design, valorisation, and use of diverse UI/UX and deploying them in production as part of large web applications
* Proficient in using Git for version control
* Fast learner and ability to adopt new technologies
* Ability to work independently with a good sense of responsibility
* Result driven
* Good command of spoken and written English
Experience or knowledge in:
* UI/UX design
* JavaScript framework, web pack
* Python programming
* Working with SQL databases
* Using REST API, HTTP calls, and web socket communication
* Object-oriented programming and/or functional programming
* Delivering technical documentation.
Considered as Assets
Experience with:
* KAFKA (Pub/Sub Services)
* ROS Middleware
* Network configuration
* Security
* Web-based GIS projects (e.g. geoserver, openlayers, vue-layers)
Knowledge of:
* Web applications development using frameworks (e.g. Vue.JS, React.js).
