Assistant Manager to Senior Manager, MICE, Western Europe (Brussels) (1+1 year contract)

The Opportunity:
The Assistant Manager/Manager/Senior Manager, MICE, for the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau (SECB) will be responsible for the promotion of Singapore as the preferred choice for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) destination for the European market. This individual will be responsible for identifying and securing new events and opportunities for Singapore, developing and cultivating business leads within the European MICE sector to raise awareness of Singapore as a top meetings destination. Based in Western Europe, Brussels, this position will require interaction with team members in the Singapore Headquarters (HQ). This position will also maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, the media and potential clients to identify new MICE events to bring to Singapore.
NOTE: This is a 1+1 year contract role.
What you will be working on:
1. MICE Business Development
o The incoming manager will contribute towards Singapore's positioning as a leading destination for MICE through securing a pipeline of business events for Singapore.
o Serve as the Europe contact for MICE accounts headquartered in Western Europe, including but not limited to Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France and Italy.
o Source and build a pipeline of MICE leads and contacts for Association Meetings, Exhibition Organisers, Corporate Meetings & Incentives (M&I), with a strong focus on M&I Travels.
o Grow strong relationships with clients, respond to event bidding opportunities (e.g. RFP) and provide timely advice, resource and facilitation support through various STB programmes and initiatives.
o Maintain account records for all assigned accounts including document appointments, activities and overall account management in the CRM system (e.g. Salesforce).
o Prepare and submit internal proposals and applications for STB's programmes and initiatives (e.g Grants).
2. Pan-Europe MICE One to Many Outreach
o Collaborate with STB Europe's MICE officers to implement our One to Many Outreach Initiatives which includes leveraging Europe conference Ambassadors, Linked In and other platforms to heighten Singapore MICE branding to complement BD efforts.
o Plan and execute partnerships to grow Singapore as the Global-Asia node for business events.
o Identify and pursue opportunities for speaking engagements, partnerships and sponsorships to enhance brand visibility.
o Serve as thought-leaders, proactively generating thought leadership ideas, strategies and content to position the brand.
o Connect with Singapore HQ MICE marketing and communication colleagues as necessary, to execute MICE PR & marketing campaigns in-market.
3. Programmes and Events
o Organize Singapore's participation in MICE's core tradeshow such as IBTM World.
o Identify suitable market-specific business development road shows, sales calls, with a strong focus on Meeting and Incentive (M&I) Travels.
4. Office and Administrative operations
o Overseeing administrative matters related to service providers such as travel agency, office and staff insurances, payroll service, etc.
What we are looking for
* At least 3 to 5 years of experience working in the Tourism and MICE industry, a focus on M&I is a plus.
* Sales and business development experience with a track record of achieving sales quotas; experience with destination marketing is a plus.
* Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
* Organised, independent worker with a keen interest in business development.
* Tenacity, resilience and cultural sensitivity to adapt to and work in an international environment.
* Experience working in a global team across multiple time zones and cultures.
* Willingness to travel within Europe to attend meetings, roadshows, tradeshows and weekend events as part of work duties.
* Willingness to travel to Singapore as part of corporate functions and work duties.
* Proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
* At least bilingual (English and preferably French).
Additional Information:
* Work alongside other team members of the MICE teams in Europe and Singapore and report to Area Director in STB Brussels and Regional Director Europe based in London.
* Independent contributor role.
* Based in Brussels, Belgium.
* Travel required domestically and internationally.
